We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as the Outdoor Fish Production Biologist responsible for managing the outdoor production spaces.
Your role will encompass various tasks, including managing fish stocks, maintaining outdoor production spaces, leading a small team of technicians, and developing standard operating procedures for the operation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in biology, fisheries, aquaculture or related field preferred
Experience:
Previous experience in aquaculture or fisheries-related field Experience managing a small team Primary
Responsibilities:
Monitor detailed growth cycle of perch and other species raised on location Establish optimum growth conditions to maintain the most efficient growth rate in terms of cost and time to harvest Develop and implement feeding programs for all livestock such as:
set up and maintain feeding schedules or auto feeders Track and record initial stocking sizes and quantity per pond Maintain record of livestock losses per season per pond to establish baseline rates Establish causes of any casualties/loss to improve operating procedures.
Develop and implement new programs to ensure quality and profitability of operations Research cutting edge technology and report to owners Monitor and address water quality concerns Work with Vendors to coordinate fish deliveries Set up program for maintenance on pond equipment Set up maintenance schedule for vegetation management Coordinate daily logs of when equipment needs service Recommend measures to improve fish production Supervise and train other help as needed Review and revise established standard operating procedures on a minimum of a yearly basis.
Review production goals with owners to ensure work is meeting standards and expectations.
Monitor project expenses and report any unforeseen variances to owners.
Assist with writing, developing, and submitting of pertinent grant applications to governmental and/or community/local funds.
Establish a communication schedule to update owners on progress with certain projects Skills and Knowledge:
