Summary:
Under the general direction of Corrections Supervisor, responsible to transport all appropriate inmates/detainees and other individuals within and outside of Dodge County as assigned.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities:
Transports within and/or outside of Dodge County, all male or female inmates/detainees as required.
Transports inmates/detainees to assigned jail or detention locations.
Works individually or as team to transport inmates/detainees, etc.
Attend scheduled training.
Regular attendance and punctuality required.
Performs related duties as may be required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of state and county laws and regulations.
Ability to possess a firearm, No felony convictions, No domestic abuse convictions.
Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment.
React quickly and effectively to stressful situations.
Ability to organize time and carry out daily schedule in the most cost effective and timely manner.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with inmates/detainees, staff, other agencies and members of the public.
Ability to maintain equipment in good working condition, using preventive maintenance practices in the use and care of all county vehicles.
Ability to solve problems in regard to operation of vehicles and inmate/detainee welfare Ability to operate police radio.
Must meet requirements of Dodge County Driver Qualification Policy.
Education and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent, experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish all of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Working Conditions:
Must drive van or automobile in all weather conditions.
Occasional work in adverse interpersonal situations.
